The HLTSS00066 skill set includes the single unit of competency HLTINFCOV001 Comply with infection prevention and control polices and procedures. This course has been contextualised for workers involved in food handling. It supports participants to develop skills and knowledge to follow workplace documentation to reduce risk of infection transmission to themselves and others, especially due to COVID-19.

Assessment
HLTINF001 Comply with Infection Prevention and Control Polices and Procedures includes both a theoretical and practical assessment component. Theory assessment includes the completion of pre-reading prior to a face-to-face training session, a multiple choice knowledge assessment and practical assessments that include:

Contaminated spill scenario
Note: all participants must also submit a completed workplace report from their supervisor, which confirms their application of skills and knowledge regarding risk assessment and following precautions for infection prevention/control in their workplace role.

Foundation skills

HLTINF001 includes the following types of skills as listed below, Note: If the training and assessment requires any tasks harder than this, and you feel unable to complete what is asked, we will support you through the training process.
You need to be able to:

Apply skills to different locations and situations

Read and interpret basic signs and documents, such as labels on cleaning supplies, warning signs, workplace procedures

Give instructions and explanations in English

Complete a basic incident report form (written document)

Estimate volume to determine contamination area

Calculate chemicals for cleaning solutions

Count time, e.g. washing hands for 20 seconds

Tell time to state when the incident occurred

Outcomes
​
​On successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded a nationally recognised statement of attainment for HLTSS00066 skill set.
​
Unique Student Identifier (USI)
​
From 1 January 2015 when you attend a first aid course (nationally recognised training) you will need to have a USI.
A USI will give you access to your online USI account which will contain all your nationally recognised training records and results from 1 January 2015 onwards.
This is a requirement of the Australian Government Department of Industry.
Healthguard is a Registered Training Organisation and must comply with Government Legislation to maintain our registration. As of the 1 January 2015 we will be unable to issue you a Statement of Attainment for your course until you supply us with your USI.
